256,306. Naylor, G. W., Naylor, J. F., and Naylor, W. May 1, 1925. Casting processes; moulds.- To avoid defects in ingots, caused bv excessive swirling of the metal when pouring, balls, flakes, grains, sheets, strips, rolls, ropes or mats of wood pulp, cork, cokebreeze, hemp, paper, rushes, salt, sawdust, straw, &c., are placed in the mould. This material may be secured to a stripping peg as shown in the Figure, or by arranging it to project between the mould and its bottom or into holes in, or tar, graphite, &c. on, the mould bottom.
