Abstract
256,107. Butler, T. H., Robinson, H. W., and Parkes, D. W. Dec. 8, 1925. Drawings to Specification. Liquid fuel.-Fuels consisting of stable homogeneous mixtures of pitch and petroleum residue are obtained as the still residues when mixtures of coal tar and heavy petroleum or asphaltic fuel oil are distilled up to 300-400‹ C. with or without steam, reduced pressure, or both. Petroleum fuel oil may be added to the products, and the reduction in stability may be lessened by addition of solid coal tar hydrocarbons such as those of the naphthalene and anthracene series. In an example, 100 tons of coke-oven tar and 60 tons of Mexican fuel oil of 0.950 sp. gr. are distilled at 370‹ C., until 60 tons distil over. The residue is solid at atmospheric temperatures but liquid at about 125‹ C. Specification 261,907 is referred to.
