Blades.-To protect the blades b from erosion due to water particles in the steam a number of obliquelyrunning binding strips a are arranged near the tips so as to project beyond the plane of the leading edges of the blades. The strips are inclined so as to deflect the water particles towards the blade tips and also to give them a direction having a small axial component away from the blades. The strips may be made of tungsten steel, or they may be case-hardened or given a coat of elastic material.
