Abstract

Multiple-chamber kilns.-In a continuous kiln the collector flue b, from which the waste gases are exhausted, is built above ground outside the kiln structure, and the connections to the various chambers are made by removable tubular elbow pieces d fitted with regulating dampers m. A flange i on one end of an elbow piece takes into a groove in a junction fitting f secured to the flue b; and at the other end a joint is made by sand around a flange q and a socket p fitted in the kiln opening. When the elbow piece is removed the apertures in the flue and the kiln are closed by a damper k and a cover plate respectively. An exhaust fan s may be supported above the flue on a concrete bed s<1> carried by brick pillars s<11>.
