Abstract

254,616. Thomas, R. Feb. 1, 1926. Foot-arch supports.-Inside heel pads, instep support covers, or the like for boots and shoes are provided with an underlying flap 1, Fig. 1, connected in a hinged manner at or near one edge 3 to the tread piece 2 upon which the foot rests, nails or pins being driven or simply pressed through the underlying flap into the insole of the boot or shoe. The flap 1 may be integral with the tread piece or connected therewith at one edge as by eyelets, rivets, or stitching, or it may be connected thereto by an additional hinge piece. A pad 6, Fig. 4, of felt, rubber, cork or other suitable material may be inserted between the tread piece and flap. Fig. 5 shows the application of the fastening flap to an instep support cover 2.
