Abstract

253,687. Mullaly, P. J., and Pirie, M. V. May 14, 1925. Diaphragms; loudspeakers. - Sound-reproducing diaphragms for telephone receivers, gramophones &c., are built up of two or more cones or pyramids fitted together coaxially, their apices, which lie in the same direction, being joined together and connected by a screw or the like to an armature or equivalent vibratory member. The invention is shown as applied to a telephonic loud-speaker. Cones 6, 7 of paper. metal foil. thin wood &c., have their apicies connected together and to the armature of an electro. magnet 5 by a screw 10, an interposed button 11 of wood &c. being provided. The peripheral edges of the cones are joined together, and may be otherwise free, or may be lightly attached to the front 2 of the instrument casing, e.g. by tissue paper, or, as shown, by means of two strips 9 of adhesive paper or linen. The cabinet has a removable back 3 on which the electromagnetic device is mounted, and the front 2 is " openwork."
