Abstract
253,601. Hoff, C. von. March 18, 1925. Respirators. - An oxygen container 1 is connected to an aircirculating system 9, 14, 14<a>, including a mouth-piece 11 and a breathing-bag 16, and supplementary means 7 for admitting oxygen to the system is put into operation by suction caused by the main oxygen nozzle 5, or by respiration, or both. The device 7 is preferably arranged inside the bag 16 and operates on the collapse of the bag due to withdrawal of air. A pipe 17 with a non-return valve 18 connects the bag 16 either directly with the inhaling pipe 9 or through a second breathing bag 12 connected to the pipe. Additional oxygen may be admitted to the pipe 14 through a pipe 19 with a manuallyoperated valve 20. A scrubber 15 is placed between the mouth-piece and the bag 16, and the flow of air through the scrubber is automatically controlled by a spring-pressed throttle valve 24. Vitiated air is discharged through a relief valve 21, and carbon monoxide &c. is removed by a purifier 26.
