Leaf holders and turners comprise a base, radial arms mounted thereon, and released successively by an escapement device comprising spring latches at opposite ends of a trip lever. The leaf turning arms 10 are pivoted on a vertical pin 9 mounted between lugs 8 bent out from the base bar 6 carried by the upper end of a vertical supporting plate 3 mounted at its lower offset end 4 on a piano or desk. A spring latch 15 secured upon the back of the base bar extends forwardly through an opening 17 therein so that a pendent tooth engages over the edge of the front arm 10 and holds it at the right of the device against the force of a spring 11 coiled round the pin 9. When the operating arm is depressed, a flexible wire 21 lowers the head 20 of a lever 19 pivoted upon the front of the base bar 6. Simultaneously the other end of the lever rises and releases the latch 15 to allow the front leaf to be turned. A second spring latch 28 mounted on the back of the bar 6 and extending forward through a hole therein and a hole 27 in the head of the lever is lowered when the head 20 is drawn down, and engages over the top edge of the arm 10 next to be turned. The operating arm is spring-returned and when released, the latch 28 is raised and the latch 15 lowered. A book 30 at the end of the bar 6 may engage all the arms 10 when the turning mechanism is not required. Leaf holders 12' on each arm 10 clip the top edges of the leaves and pendent bars 31 on each arm are placed behind each leaf. If the music is bound, arms with horizontal portions 35 are inserted behind each leaf to assist turning. Loose sheets are clipped at 33 to a pendent bar 31 and a pivoted lateral arm 35 engages the back of each slieet.
