Abstract
252,298. Rimmer, M. C. Nov. 18, 1925. Thin blade handles with clamping and retaining devices.-In a surgical or other knife of the type having a removable blade held against a blade locating face on the handle in contact with abutments thereon preventing movement in its own plane by a clamping plate which grips the blade against the locating face, the clamping device consists of a locking lever with fulcrum means at the other end to engage the handle close to the rear end of the blade. The handle is provided with a grooved shoulder 3 and an extension having an oval hole 1 and laterally projecting pins 2. The blade, Fig. 4. has round holes 5 to take over the pins 2, and an oval blade 4 registering with the hole 1, and is locked on the handle extension by a lever having an ovalended stud which is passed through the holes 1. 4 whilst in the right-angle position shown in Fig. 8 and is then turned down to engage the angled end 7 of the lever in the grooved shoulder 3.
