Abstract

252,012. Kammerer, H. May 7, 1925, [Convention date]. Papers; developing; bichromated colloid.- Paper for producing prints from tracings is prepared by coating it with a solution containing a chromate or bichromate and organic salts of heavy metals such as iron to which may be added one or more salts of manganese. The ferric salts of citric, oxalic, or tartaric acids are especially suitable. After exposure development is effected with aromatic amines, phenols or amidophenols, which may be acidified, or with there derivatives or substitution products. The developer may however be applied dry or in solution to the paper before exposure, in which case development is effected after exposure by applying a damp sponge, or by treatment with steam. Baryta paper may be used as a base for the coating. Prints in different colours may be obtained by choice of developer. An example is described in which a coating containing bichromate and ferric ammonium citrate is exposed and developed with a solution of aniline hydrochloride; or, alternatively is moistened before exposure with a solution of aniline, and developed after exposure with a damp sponge or steam. The sensitizing solution may be used in the preparation of gum bichromate papers.
