251,780. Thompson, H. H., Davies, A. E., and Box, W. E. May 20, 1925. Magnetic separators.-In a magnetic separator of the trough, shoot or tray type, the material to be treated is fed over bars b, mounted on the brass or other non-magnetic bottom d of the trough &c. and directly magnetized by electromagnets c, and over 'bars a alternating with the bars b and magnetized by induction therefrom. The bars a, b may be wedge-shaped, the greater thickness of the wedges being at the lower sides of the bars, when the trough &c. is inclined, so as to form a series of steps at different levels, or the bars may be rectangular and provided with projections, grooves or serrations. Additional bars e, Fig. 3, may be mounted between the bars a, b above or spaced from the trough &c. Specification 171,859 is referred to.
