Abstract
251,648. Roberts, C. May 1, 1925, [Convention date]. Moulding boots and shoes.-A cushion heel or heel pad is both coned and provided with nail retaining devices. A core 20, Fig. 2, is provided with nail retaining eyelets 24 and then positioned by jig pins 32 in a mould. The application of the top plate 28 and heat and pressure causes a rubber blank to flow under the bevelled edges 22 of the core and the flared ends of the eyelets. The top plate is formed to mould guide depressions 42 corresponding in position to the eyelets. In a modification, Fig. 9, shouldered jig pins 60 are used which, during the moulding, force the eyelets away from the core into the body of the heel.
