Abstract

251,452. Fievet, E. May 28, 1925. Sliver conductors; carding- engines; openers etc.; combing-machines. - Members for supporting, guiding and carrying fibres during their treatment in preparing-machines are provided with ribs, wings, or projections 2, Fig. 3, arranged in the direction of displacement of the fibres. The fibres slide along the tops of the ribs &c., and the impurities fall between them and are carried along in the grooves or evacuated through holes in the bases of the grooves. The ribs &c. may be soldered or otherwise secured to the base and be either perpendicular or inclined to the base. The guide plate &c. 1, Fig. 5, may be made of aluminium and the ribs &c. 2 be cast in position. The guiding drums 6, Fig. 7, used in carding-engines to transfer fibres which fall on them to the under-casing may be provided with sheet iron rings 7 spaced apart by discs 8.
