Resin substitutes.-A composition for application to bows for musical instruments consists of a powdered abrasive such as amber, glass, pumice, carborundum, corundum, ruby, sapphire, or diamond dust, mixed with colophony, resins, oleo-resins, balsams, or like carriers. In an example, rosin is melted, one fourth of its weight of powdered silica is stirred in, and the mixture is cast in blocks.
