Abstract
250,954. Engstr÷m, D. A. April 15, 1925, [Convention date]. Addition to 238,884, [Class 146 (i), Filing paper &c. sheets]. Indexing.-The card-finder device of the parent Specification. Wherein the index cards are con. nected together to form a band which is wound from one roller on to another beneath an inspection aperture in a casing, is modified by the provision of an index to facilitate the selection of a card. A row of index characters arranged in alphabetical succession adjacent to the inspection aperture, and transversely thereto, co-operate with a line of a particular colour arranged in the longitudinal direction of the band and in alignment with the alphabetical character corresponding with the initial letter of the heading of a card, a second line of different colour being arranged according to the second letter of the heading. The cards are arranged in the band according to their headings in alphabetical order so that in winding the band to select a card the line of the colour corresponding to the first letter of the card is first ascertained, after which the 'line corresponding to the second letter is selected from those which have. the same initial letter. Several differently coloured lines corresponding to the succeeding letters of the heading may be added to the cards. Indicators other than coloured lines may be provided on the cards.
