Abstract

250,556. Jorgensen, A. M. April 8, 1925, [Convention date]. Stoppering. -A machine for inserting discs of cardboard &c. into the mouths of bottles &c. to close them, comprises a series of trays f rotatably mounted on arms e extending from a vertical spindle a. A plate h provided with mouthpieces i in the underside for receiving the bottle mouths extends above and in parallel relation to the arms e. Each tray f has a corresponding disc-supply tube m from which discs n are supplied to reciprocating slides k, Fig. 3. The slides are situated in guideways and receive the discs n when in the forward position relative to the direction of rotation of the machine. A spring-controlled arm t pivoted at s to the plate h is provided for each slide, and operates the slide by means of double lever x pivoted to the frame of the machine. The arm t is pressed backwards in engaging the lever x, and the disc n is carried by the slide k over the mouthpiece i, whence it is pressed by a piston o operated by an eccentric p into the mouth of a bottle &c. The lever x is counterweighted and is only operative when a bottle g is in a frame.
