Conduits and casings. - Doublesocketted connecting pieces d for use in joining pipes through which a main underground cable is to be drawn, are provided with rollers e to assist the drawing-in of the cable. Recesses h are provided in the connecting pieces to receive the roller trunnions f, and the rollers can be readily dropped into place and secured by wooden dowels g. The rollers are of wood, gun-metal &c., and the sockets are of iron, stone-ware or the like. In a modification a single socket is provided at the end of a pipe, and a roller provided adjacent thereto.
