Regulating. - In multi-stage turbocompressors wherein each turbine section TI, TII, TIII drives a corresponding compressor section VIII, VII, VI, and the turbo-compressor sections run mechanically independent of one another, pressureresponsive regulators A, B, C are provided for the inlets of all the turbines so as to maintain independently of the load both an invariable ultimate pressure for the high - pressure section of the compressor and a constant ratio of this ultimate pressure to the low or intermediate pressure of the low or intermediate pressure section of the compressor. The regulator A comprises an oil relay 6 and a pressure piston 5 in a cylinder communicating by a pipe 14 with the compressor delivery pipe 2. The pipe also communicates with the differential pistons 9, 10 of the regulators B, C for the intermediate and low pressure sections, the pistons 9 having their opposite faces subjected to the pressures of the corresponding sections by means of pipes 15, 16. The final pressure may be varied by a handcontrol 17, whereupon the devices B, C vary proportionally the intermediate and low pressures.
