Abstract

249,963. Cutler, A. Jan. 30, 1925. Picture and like frames. - In sheetmetal and other picture and like frames having at the rear a fixed and a pivoted flange, at opposite ends, for retaining the picture, glass, and backboard b, the pivoted flange a<2> is of flat rectangular formation and extends across the frame and is pivoted in or parallel to the plane of the frame, so that it completely closes the end of the frame and lies flush with its edges. The flange may be pivoted along one of its longer edges, as shown, or along one of its narrow ends. A spring may be provided so that the flange normally tends to close; or the flange may be held closed by frictional engagement of end lugs a<3> inside the side members of the frame, or by springing the ends of the flange into engagement with projections formed in the side members; or a pivoted clip may be provided on the backboard b to engage over the upper edge of the flange.
