249,746. Grelck, W. P. M. Sept. 9, 1925. Lactic acid is manufactured from the maltose in a maltose liquor by-product produced in a process for making food for animals or from milk whey. When milk whey is used it is soured by adding a lactic acid bacteria starter and maintaining at a temperature of from 70‹F to 100‹ F.
