Abstract

248,127. Horner, J. H. Dec. 18, 1924. Type-wheel machines. - In machines of the kind described in Specification 211,305 for printing the amount of a cheque &c. in words and numerals, the word-type wheels a - - f that are set simultaneously with the corresponding numeral-type wheels are, as shown in the Figure, associated with independently set word-type wheels 1 - - 5, and the word-types are so arranged that certain components of the amount can be printed in different lateral positions; for instance, " thousands " can be printed in either of two positions according as to whether " hundreds " occur or are absent. A suitable arrangement of word-types is shown in the Figure, which is a development and indicates some of the wordtypes by the initial letters. The type-wheels 1 - - 5 may be set by means of index levers geared thereto. The word-types for printing " shillings " and " pence'" may be replaced by numeral-types.
