Abstract

A saddle pad constructed from high density visco-elastic memory foam 1. The pad is provided with a weft knitted fabric cover 2 and a polyurethane transfer coating.

Description

SADDLE PAD
DESCRIPTION
This invention relates to a pad that fits underneath the saddle whilst the horse is being ridden.
When the combined weight of the saddle and rider are placed onto a horses back it can cause considerable pressure. This pressure is not always evenly distributed and can result in general discomfort and even sores on the horses back.
This invention is constructed using a high quality open cell visco-elastic foam as shown in Figurel that is temperature and pressure sensitive. It follows the natural curvature of the spine without altering it, thus any pressure points from the combined weight of the rider and saddle are alleviated. The open cell structure of the foam allows the air to be transferred to other cells when compressed giving a protective cushioning.
It has natural anti bacterial and anti fungal properties and is breathable. The outer cover is made from weft knitted fabric with a polyurethane transfer coating as shown in Figure 2. It is highly breathable and permeable allowing air to be passed through the fabric to dissipate heat and perspiration. This helps to preserve the skins normal condition thereby reducing the risk of injury and optimizing comfort. It has an anti-myotic coating which provides a barrier to bacteria. Dirt and sweat can be easily removed by wiping with a damp cloth making washing unnecessary.
The advantage of this product is that pressure is evenly distributed thereby reducing the risk of injury and optimizing comfort. The outer covering allows air to circulate helping to prevent pressure sores. It is also wipe able negating the need for washing.

Claims (4)

  1. SADDLE FADCLAIM1) A pad made from high density visco-elastic memory foam that is designed to evenly distribute the pressure caused by the weight from the saddle and rider.
  2. 2) The pad as in claim 1 is covered with a weft knitted fabric that has a polyurethane transfer coating.
  3. 3) The weft knitted fabric is breathable and permeable thus allowing air to pass through the fabric dissipating heat and moisture.
  4. 4) The pad will provide comfort and prevent pressure points that could cause injury to the horses back.
