Rolling; bending; roller tables. - Bars 2 fed from a rolling mill on to conveyer rolls 1 are pushed by reciprocating pushers 4 down an incline 3 on the beginning of a cooling bed 10 where they are temporarily held on edge between the incline 3 and weighted pivoted fingers 11. The bars are then moved forward by reciprocating pushers 14, some of which are set in advance of others so that as some of the fingers 11 yield to the pressure before others, the bar is bent or curved so that it will stand alone on edge when added to the pack being annealed on the bed 10. As each bar is added to the pack one from the outer side drops on to reciprocating fingers 23, 24 which work the bar down to other conveyer rolls 26 for further working. The pushers 14 are provided with slots 15 to adjust their length and so determine the degree of bending. The stroke of the pushers 14 is varied by pinning the connecting rod 18 at varying crank distances on the crank disc 17, thus lengthening or shortening the time the bars remain on the cooling bed.
