Abstract
247,035. Courtot, L. April 15, 1925. Sectional boilers; tubes, water. -The side walls of a rectangular low pressure boiler are constituted by a double row of tubular water -circulation panels 1 enclosing a smoke flue, each panel comprising a plurality of tubes arranged vertically and opening out above and below into collecting conduits 2, 3, which are connected together and to conduits 9, 10, disposed between the panel rows at the top and bottom of the flues. The front and rear walls consist of panels disposed in a single row, their collecting conduits also communicating with conduits 9, 10. Apertures 14 at the top of the inner rows of panels connect the combustion chamber with the flues each of which has one or more partitions 16 for baffling the flue gases before passing rearwardly to a smoke box 8. Firebrick or asbestos &c. elements 17 form the furnace roof along the middle of which is a metallic air duct 18 connected to a supply duct 19 at the rear of the boiler and having apertures 20 through which heated air enters the combustion chamber. Water circulation means may replace the air duct 18. A steam drum is disposed above the boiler should it be employed for producing low pressure steam.
