246,936. Launay, J. E., and Herbert, F. Nov. 12. 1924. Preserving meat.-Meat, e.g. pressed brisket of beef, is packed by inserting, prior to moulding, the preliminarily cooked meat into a tin can a, open at its largest side, and then subjecting it to a slight pressing operation effected over the area of the meat presented by the open side of the tin, then soldering on the lid c of the can and subjecting the contents to the usual sterilizing process. The lid c may have turned-down edges to facilitate soldering to the tin a, and a hole b through which jelly or other suitable material may be added, the hole being then sealed.
