Teeth, artificial.-Relates to teeth wherein the porcelain portion is formed at the back with an undercut key tapering in width and thickness and fitting into a metal backing having flanges or lips to embrace the sides of the key, and consists in forming the back of the key and the tooth surfaces at the side thereof with a longitudinally convex curvature. Figs. 3, 4, and 5 show an incisal tooth 1 formed with an undercut key 2 tapering in width and thickness. The surface 3 of the key and the surfaces 4 of the tooth at the sides of the key are longitudinally convex and the backing member 5, Fig. 3, is correspondingly shaped. Fig. 6 shows a molar tooth having a wide grinding surface 7 and with a key 2 and surfaces 3, 4 as in the incisal tooth. In this case the key is thicker at the occlusal part of the tooth than at the root portion. Figs. 11 and 12 show a corresponding backing. The edges of the key are preferably bevelled or rounded. In forming a denture the backings are connected along their adjacent substantially vertical side edges.
