Abstract

267,276. Grant, F. H. Feb. 2, 1926. Teeth, artificial. - In an artificial tooth of the hind formed of a standardized detachable facing and a backing the backing is forged of metal to correspond with the shape of the tooth it replaces, except that it recedes slightly from the gum at the lower portion. Fig. 1 shows a section of an incisor tooth. The backing 2 is formed with a rib 3 on to which the facing 1 can be slid. An extension 7 on the lower part of the backing fits over the gum. The backing may be provided with side wings 23, Fig. 14, between which the facing fits, the wings tapering in horizontal section and terminating at the point of the greatest width of the facing. The backing and extension 7 are thinner at the mesial edge than at the distal edge.
