Abstract

A device comprises a flexible transparent hood with a self contained air supply for use during emergency situations such as fire. The air supply is contained in a sealed area of the hood, and situated at the nape of the neck area. The air is triggered by pressure on a plastic point that penetrates the air sac by firm pressure. The device may include a chemical light. The device may include a global positioning system (GPS).

Description

Portable emergency breathing apparatus Historically, hotel rooms generally do not have any provision for emergency life support systems available in an emergency, above and beyond the emergency exit instructions on the customers doors. In the event of a fire, there is usually nothing provided to protect from the inhalation of smoke or burns to the face area This application is primarily for emergency use by such Hotels and Guest houses, as well as any form of residential accommodation, such as elderly care, hospitalisation, or training and teaching establishments. The operating principle is as follows:-A transparent hood that can be deployed by any endangered individual, actuated by pulling the hood on and over ones head. As the hood descends, thus covering the face and upper torso, the integral air supply is actuated, supplying sufficient oxygen to enable egress from the building emergency. The hood also protects the face from burns or other associated injury.
1. For personal, individual use and mounted in hotel rooms 2. Self contained air supply 3. Transparent hood descending to shoulder height 4. GPS link for location of individuals 5. Auto operated chemical light system 6. Themed styling for child use 7. Can also be used by emergency services.
8. Can consist of any number of other uses.
It is envisaged that units corresponding with the number of room occupants would be mounted on the walls or doors of each room, availing easy and rapid access to any occupant. 2.
