Two clamping jaws are connected by a screw, one of the jaws being wedge-shaped and capable of lateral motion relatively to the other. The wedgeshaped jaw b is formed of several triangular sections d bridged by a base f in which is a slot h for the screw g. The sections d pass between projections c on the jaw a and enter corresponding openings in the upper part of the jaw a. The screw g passes through a slot or aperture in the jaw a or may screw into a threaded hole therein.
