In a safety razor in which a flexible blade is clamped between a curved guard plate and backing-plate and is spaced from the former to allow the escape of soap, hair, &c., projections 1<b>, 1<c>, 1<d> on the guard 1 form the spacing-means and the guard has an enlargement 1<a> with a central conical opening engaged by the conical end 2<a> of the handle 2 which screws upon the shank 3<a> projecting from the backing-plate 500. Wt. 129/1016. 12/29. C.P.Leam Ps 2349. 3; in a modification the conical opening is in the end of the handle which engages over a conical boss on the guard. In order that resharpened blades of various width may be used in the razor, a number of interchangeable guards are provided, the teeth of which are of different lengths while the width of the spacing-projections thereon is equal to the width of the backing-plate.
