Cold and heat retaining vessels.-A rubber ring 10 between the upper threaded part 6, Fig. 1, of the protective casing 5 and the neck 3 of a vacuum-jacketed vessel 2, is provided with a groove 9 engaged by the rim 8 of the casing part 6. The rubber ring is bevelled as at 11 to deflect liquids outside the casing. A millboard packing 12 and base support 4 may be provided inside the casing, and a drinking-cup 7 may be fitted. The rubber ring may be of triangular section with the rim of the part 6 engaged in a groove in the base. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the following:- The rubber ring may be corrugated as shown in Fig. 6 (Cancelled) to engage the rim 25 of the casing, or a rubber ring 26. Fig. 7 (Cancelled), fitting tightly over an inturned rim of the casing part 27 may be employed. Other shapes of grooved or ribbed rubber packing-rings are described. The packing-ring 10 and the drinking- cup 7 may be shaped so that the cup forms a closure against the ring when screwed down, to provide against leakage due to an imperfect closure by the cork 1.
