Abstract

Oil supply fittings. - In order to ensure the correct sequence of operations in starting up and shutting down the burners of oil-fired furnaces the lever a operating the forced-draught airsupply valve a<1> is attached to a slide-rod b carrying a lock-bar c which when the valve a<1> is in the closed position engages a pin i on the flap h of the hole for the igniting torch and abuts against a slide-bar d having a cranked end e extending into the path of the oil-valve lever k so as to prevent the operation of the flap or oil-valve lever. After opening the air valve the bar d may be slid in its guides towards the left thereby permitting the valve lever k to be operated. During this movement of the bar d a pivoted latch f fitted at its left-hand end lifts the flap h to the open position. The flap h is closed by hand after the ignition of the burner. The lever k when in the open position prevents movement of the bar d to the right so that the oil supply to the burner must be shut off before the air valve a<1> can be closed. The latch f is normally held in the upright position by a spring g which allows it to turn when passing the pin i during the return movement of the bar d.
