Boxes combined with cutting boards; ventilating boxes; covers.-Relates to lidded food containers having cutting boards slidably arranged therein, and consists in the provision of ventilating means, means for retaining a sliding door in an elevated position, and in various constructions of containers with means for securing the containers to base members. A device having a number of cutting boards slidably arranged therein is also described. The ventilating means may comprise any or all of the following, (1) a hole in the rear end of the base covered with gauze or perforated metal and registering with a hole in the cutting-board, (2) an open rear end of the container covered by a frame carrying gauze or perforated sheet metal, (3) an end door consisting of a frame carrying gauze perforated sheet metal. The container 2, Fig. 1, is secured to the frame-like base 4 by straps 13, 22 provided with slotted bolt holes 15, 24, a pivoted catch member 41 being used, to prevent rear movement of the container, either in place of or in conjunction with the strap 13. Fig. 9 shows a modified construction of strap comprising two stationary side members 18 and a member 19 hinged to one of them and secured to the other by a wing nut and bolt. In a further modification, the bolts 14, Fig. 1, are replaced by a single stud and wing nut which is associated with a single slotted hole. The lid 8 may be supported in the raised position by a bent portion 25 of the strap 22 as shown in Fig. 1, or tongues may be pressed out of the strap to act in a similar manner. The door 8 may be supported in the raised position by ledges, screws, or pivoted catches suitably formed or mounted in the door guides. As shown in Fig. 13, the upper part 31 of the guide is pivoted so that the raised door may be pivoted about the pin 32 and retained with its lower edge resting on the top 33 of the stationary portion of the guide. The container may comprise a flat base portion and an inverted V-sectioned upper portion strapped thereto, which upper portion may have one or both ends open. In the latter case, the rear open end is closed by a detachable gauze or like covered frame which may be secured to the base by wing nuts. The device, in which a number of cutting boards are provided in a common container, has sides of framed gauze or perforated sheet metal, a solid base, and framed glass doors and front and rear ends. Rubber or like supporting studs 12 are provided. Specification 225,427 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
