Washing - machines. -In apparatus for tilting the troughs of washing machines about one edge, comprising a toothed segment and operating gear, the axis of the toothed segment is eccentric to that about which the trough tips, and means are provided for maintaining the parts in engagement ; by these means a segment of large radius can be employed. In the form shown, the trough tips about an axis a, and the segment b, operated by a pinion t, pivots about an axis f, and is connected to the trough by a pin and slot connection. In another form, the segment is rigidly connected with the trough, and the operating pinion is carried on rocking arms connected by a link to the trough.
