Squirting.-A press for extruding tubes or sheathing cables has a number of pistons of which at least one 21 is always under a constant pressure and another 22 is used to introduce fresh supplies of metal. The piston 22 is arranged in a cylinder 18 having a valve 24, which is closed to allow the piston to be withdrawn and metal to be poured through the opening 25. The valve is opened to allow the new charge to be forced into the cylinder 17. In place of the piston 22 a gear or other pump supplied by suction or by a head of metal in a melting-pot may be employed.
