Abstract
243,629. Cross, W., (Roberts & Schaefer Co.). June 12, 1925. Sieves with compound motion. - Screening apparatus comprises one or more pairs of superposed screens held by flexible, supports at their discharge ends and by means at their feed ends which imparts a gyratory movement to both. In the construction described a number of pairs of screens B, D, H, H<1>, J, J<1> are mounted on a. frame A, and are preferably arranged so that the lower screen of each pair has the same size of mesh while the mesh of the upper screens is of decreasing size. The screens are supported at their discharge ends by flexible straps or plates G, G', and at their feed ends are mounted on oppositely disposed eccentrics on a shaft C. The screen frames comprise side members B<3>, cross-bars B<4> - - B<6>, bars B<8> for clamping one end of the screen, and screen-tensioning means consisting of bolts B<10> and clampingbars B<13>, B<15>. The members B<3> are provided on the inner sides with longitudinal bars B<16> and adjustable inclined cover plates B<17> to support and cover the edges of the screen. The tension adjusting devices are covered by plates B<14>. The upper screen, of each pair is provided with a lateral discharge shoot E, and the lower screen with a collecting plate D<6> which delivers the fines ,to a shoot D<12>, the tailing from the lower screen of each pair being delivered to the next pair of the series.
