Abstract

The tyre consists of a circular elasticated band with a plurality of studs. The band is attached to the wheels or tyres of a baby buggy, pushchair, or pram to improve traction and grip in snow or ice. The band and studs may be integrally moulded in one piece with different materials for each. Alternatively the studs may be manually fitted by hand. The tyre is detachable due to its elasticity.

Description I

When pushing a pram, pushchair or baby buggy over snowy ground or an icy surface, mothers/parents can encounter great difficulty. This device, described herein, goes someway to solving this problem.

The invention relates to a device that attaches to the wheels of baby buggy's or prams.

It is the equivalent of attaching chains or studded tyres to cars for snow and ice driving conditions. When the device is wrapped around the buggy/pushchair or pram tyre, it provides traction or better grip in snow conditions.

With reference to the drawings provided, the device compromises of a thin circular elasticated band or any other suitable material (fig 1) that stretches onto and over the buggy or pram wheel or tyre (fig 2), encapsulating the whole circumference of the wheel or tyre. Four of these devices are attached to each buggy or pram, one attached to each wheel or tyre (fig 3).

Each circular elasticated band has a plurality of studs (fig 4) which will be infused or injected into the elasticated band, which provides grip or traction in the snowy or icy conditions. These studs can be individual pieces of plastic, rubber, elastomers or metal and can be either hand fitted or ovr moulded, or two shot moulded.

Alternatively the circular elasticated band and the plurality of studs can be manufactured as one piece.

The elasticated band will be around 5 - 10% smaller than the circumference of the wheels or tyres to ensure a good fit and tight holding on the said wheels or tyres.

Claims (8)

1. Claims 1. A circular elasticated band with plurality of studs, that

   attaches to the wheels or tyres of baby buggies, pushchairs or prams to improve the traction and grip when in snowy or icy conditions.
2. 2. A device as described in claim 1 where each studded attachment is fitted to each wheel or tyre of the pram, pushchair or baby biggy, therefore numbering at least four per pram, pushchair or buggy.
3. 3. A device as described in claim 1 that can be manufactured in one piece using the process of two shot moulding, providing two separate materials of different hardness and different substance if so desired.
4. 4. A device as described in claim 1 that can have the studs manually hand fitted into the elasticated rubber band.
5. 5. A device where the studs can be made from metal and then over-moulded into the thin elasticated rubber band.
6. 6. The pram fitment is easily detachable due to its elasticity, simply by pulling gently the fitment can be detached from the buggy, pram or pushchair and can be stored in any one of places while on the move with the buggy pram or pushchair.
7. 7. If the snow conditions should change the fitment can be taken. off without breakage or damage to the buggy pram or pushchair or fitmnt in any way, allowing the buggy, pram or pushchair to return to its normal condition.
8. 8. A circular elasticated rubber studded band substantially as herein described above and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
