Liquid resistances.-Difficulties introduced by pitting of the positive electrodes in electrolytic protective devices, such as surge absorbers, are minimized by arranging a positive electrode, having an insulating film on each side, between two negative electrodes. In the protective device described two such groups 7 are connected in series, and a number of pairs of groups are arranged in parallel between bus-bars 14, 15 connected respectively to an insulated terminal and the tank enclosing the device.
