Abstract

242,080. Cooper, R. Nov. 6, 1924. Tension arrangements. -Relates to apparatus of the kind comprising a spring arm or like resilient guide adapted to maintain a uniform tension on the yarn or like while permitting variations in the rate of travel or delivery of the yarn in apparatus for winding cotton, silk, or like yarns, more particularly for winding cones, bobbins, and the like from hanks. One end of a wire b is coiled around a porcelain or other suitable reel e and the other extends therefrom as a spring arm which may be bent at right angles and carry a porcelain or like guide a. The arm may be guided by a hairpin or like guide c. Any desired number of arms may be provided in one device, or any number of devices may be fitted in one machine so that each yarn is served, and the yarn is engaged by the arms as near the traverse guide as possible.
