241,330. Breffit, W. Aug. 15, 1924. Jackets and covers.-The tread portion of a pneumatic tyre is protected by two or more thin metal strips C, D having different physicad properties, one being of high hardness and elasticity and the other of high tensile strength. The device may be fitted (as shown) between the airtube B and cover A, or embedded in the tread portion of the cover during manufacture. In the former case, the ends of the strips may be secured in a rubber block riveted to the canvas lining of the cover. The strips may be formed of steel containing small proportions of (a) nickel or silver, and (b) tungsten, vanadium, or chromium.
