Abstract
240,724. Deluce, S. A. N. March 11, 1925. Turnstiles.-Turnstile arms c are locked by a bolt i pressed by a spring j into engagement with one of four notches e' in a disc e mounted on a squared portion of the turnstile spindle b. When a coin is inserted in a slot n' and a handle n<3> pulled, a lever k is actuated to withdraw the bolt and allow the arms to be rotated through 90‹, the coin being then released and the turnstile locked by the bolt engaging in the next notch. The bolt i is held in retracted position during the movement of the arms by a detent p engaging a forked shoulder i' on the bolt. The detent is tripped to free the bolt by tappets g' on a disc g which is mounted on the spindle b engaging an arm p<2> on the detent. A ratchet wheel f engaged by a pawl v prevents backward rotation of the arms. The arms c are stopped in the proper position to close the stile by a spring-pressed plunger bearing against a square collar s on the spindle b. Coin action, mechanical-connection; coin-discharging mechanism.-The coin forms a connection between an abutment n<2> on a sliding plate n operated by the handle n' and a slide l with which the lever k engages. Just before a notch e<1> comes into line with the bolt i a cam e<2> provided on the disc e in advance of each notch moves the bolt further back thereby moving the slide l by means of the lever k to release the coin which drops into a money-box. The bolt is thus prevented from being held back by onecoin while the turnstile is turned to admit more than one person.
