240,457. Somajni, G. Sept. 23, 1924, [Convention date]. Drawings to Specification. Systems for continuous-current motors only.- A pair of traction motors is controlled during starting, acceleration, and regenerative braking by applying graduated steps of voltage from a three-armature dynamotor machine, inserting resistance at each transition, and arranging for the resistance to be short-circuited when the motor-current sinks to a predetermined value. The resistance is automatically put in and out by separate series and shunt electromagnets oppositely attracting an armature carried on a gravitating or spring-restrained contact lever, the armature being shaped with projections which augment the pull at both ends of the stroke.
