Abstract
240,313. Cantieny, G. Oct. 30, 1924. Pulverulent-fuel furnaces.-A fire-tube, fluetube or other large water space boiler is heated by an external pulverulent-fuel furnace arranged in front of or below the boiler and surrounded by a large number of vertical water tubes connected with the boiler water space. The vertical water tubes g arranged along the walls of a furnace chamber c at the front of a flue-tube boiler are secured to upper and lower headers h, the upper headers rising towards and opening into the front of the boiler water space. The bottom parts of the tubes are inclined and cross one another to form a screen cooling the bottom of the furnace chamber. The lower headers are in communication with the rear of the boiler through pipes m. The tubes lie in grooves in bricks q held by a continuous joint against the furnace setting. Water may circulate from the tubes through a heat-exchanger in the boiler in a closed circuit.
