Abstract

Coloured plaster that can be applied to most interior surfaces comprises paint, plaster, water-based PVA and water. The coloured plaster reduces the amount of time and money spent decorating, since the surfacing plaster has an attractive appearance and doesn't require a further painting or decorating. The paint may be in liquid or powdered form. Preferably the plaster mix comprises 13.5 litres of water, 1 litre of water-based PVA, 1 kg of coloured powdered paint and 25 kg of renovating plaster. The PVA acts as a sealant and prevents the colour from rubbing off the surface of the dried plaster. A textured or stippled roll effect may be achieved while applying the plaster.

FORMULA.

Take thirteen a half litres of water & place in a large bucket, Add 1 lithe of Waterbased PVA & mix thoroughly until it is well mixed.

Now add 1 Kilo of coloured powdered paint to the mixture, stir until all powder has dissolved,approximately 5 minuets.

Then gradually add 25 kgs of renovating plaster into your mix, stirring well as you go.

We used an electrical drill with a whisk attatchment at all times.

When you are happy all ingredients are mixed thoroughly you can now apply to your desired surface.

With your coloured plaster you apply to surface using a decorators trowel.

To achieve a full smooth finish you should use a Gloss roller when product is almost touch dry.

To achieve a different kind of finish (e.g. a sculptured effect) you can use a trowel, roller, comb or float for your own design.

Most surfaces require a PVA applied to the surface before any plaster can be applied.

EXAMPLE OF RESULTS.

With following our formula with a blue colour we achieved a pale blue coloured plaster that was applied to an area of new plasterboard.

When all of the product had been applied to the surface & the desired effects had been achieved with a roller, trowel or float it was left to dry & set.

The finished product meant we can now achieve a finish on interior walls new or old with a coloured effect, which does not require painting.

The product is also sealed because of the PVA which has been added, meaning the colour does not rub or come off when touched.

CLAIM. FINISHED COLOURED PLASTER FOR INTERIOR WALL'S & CEILING' S.

1. The reason why we came up with this idea was to make Decorating easier & quicker. By incorporating a Plaster Finish to walls & ceilings with a coloured effect, this would take out the need to paint or decorate afterwards.

2. With applying a normal plaster to surfaces, you have to allow drying times of approximately 48 hours before you can apply a decorated finish. With this coloured plaster you not only plaster your surface, you decorate it at the same time and seal the colour within.

3. So with this new product you are doing two job s at once, saving you time & money.

4. With adding a PVA (waterbased) to water then mixing well, then adding your powder or Liquid Paint (waterbased) into the bucket & again mix well, you are now ready to add your last ingredient which is your Plaster. Mix this in well until you have a colour you are happy with. You now have your Coloured Plaster which can be applied to many surfaces.

5. To achieve a complete smooth & full colour you have to use Renovating Plaster & all other products must be Waterbased.
