Abstract

239,406. Samuel, M. Dec. 4, 1924. Boots and shoes, measuring for.-A device for measuring the height of the hollow below the instep of a flat foot comprises a member on which the foot is rested, and a member engaging the hollow, relative movement being indicated by a spring-controlled lever. A base plate a for the foot is fitted with a pivoted feeler b pressed upwards by a spring c to engage the hollow, the height being indicated by a pointer e which moves over a scale f. The base a has an adjustable heel plate h and is marked with lines i for different sizes of feet. In a modification, the feeler b has a spring-pressed plunger, or the heel and toes may rest on spring-pressed plungers. In a further modification, the hollow of the foot presses on a rubber &c. ball filled with fluid, displacement of which provides the desired indication.
