Abstract

A mortar joint finishing tool includes a handle 2 and at least one profiled area 1 capable of producing a shaped finish in brickwork mortar.

Description

I 23934 75
BIRI) BEAK BRICKWORK JOINTER
This invention relates to "Bird Beak" jointers.
Mortar joints between bricks, blocks and paving can be produced in varying finishes using different implements - eg a trowel can give a smooth or struck joint. Another tool can produce a raked-out joint giving a recessed appearance.
Perpendicular joints are finished first (peeps) and the horizontal (bed) joint last once the mortar has "gone off" a little. The bed joint is usually a little wider then the perp. The purpose of the various patterns of joint is to disperse any water from the face of the brickwork.
According to the present invention, the finished appearance gives a unique and enhancing finish and is especially suitable to the more expensive style houses although it will greatly improve the appearance of the face brickwork. The implement is described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows the double "Beak" jointer in outline together with the pattern of the beak which produces the unique finish. The "Beaks " measure 5mm and 10mm. The 5mm beak is used to produce the perp and the 10mm beak for the bed. Figure 2 shows the double "Beak" jointer in outline together with the pattern of the beak which produces the unique finish. The "Beaks " measure 10mm and 15mm. The 10mm beak is used to produce the perp and the 15mm beak for the bed. Figure 3 shows the double "Beak" jointer in outline together with the pattern of the beak which produces the unique finish. The "Beaks " measure 15mm and 15mm. The 15mm beak is used for all Clockwork joints and the 20mm beak for paving. Figure 4 shows a single "Beak" jointer in outline together with the pattern of the beak which produces the unique finish. The "Beak " measures 5mm and is used for all brickwork perp joints.
Figure 5 shows a single "Beak" jointer in outline together with the pattern of the beak which produces the unique finish. The "Beak " measures 10mm and is used for brickwork bed joints.
Figure 6 shows a single "Beak" jointer in outline together with the pattern of the beak which produces the unique finish. The "Beak " measures 15mm and is used for all Clockwork joints.
Figure 7 shows a single "Beak" jointer in outline together with the pattern of the beak which produces the unique finish. The "Beak " measures 20mm and is used for all paving joints.
Figure 8 illustrates the various types of mortar joints described above.
All implements are made of stainless steel which makes them more durable.
