Abstract
239,191. Zellstofffabrik Waldhof, Schneider, A., and Hangleiter, C. Aug. 26, 1924, [Convention date]. Pulp, preparation of.-In apparatus of the type described in Specification 179,150 for boiling cellulose, wherein suitable liquids such as fresh liquor are used for taking up the gases and vapours escaping from the apparatus, the tendency to " blow " and interfere with the proper flow of the liquid used is overcome by constructing the pipes as injectors causing a vacuum, pumps being provided for this purpose. As shown, a series of sulphite boilers B, Z are connected by pipes 4, 5 having injectors c<4>, c<5> and mixing members f<4>, f<5> to a storage receptacle 14. Suitable pumps d<4>, d<5> and regulating valves b<4>, b<5> and z<4>, z<5> are opened and the pumps started. The liquid is pumped from the receptacle 14 or from a separate container, and by injector action draws gases &c. from the boilers, the liquor and gases &c. being mixed in the receptacle 14. The pipes f<4>, f<5> therein may be foraminated or provided with nozzles at their ends.
