Abstract
239,068. Stevens, G. J. Oct. 9, 1924. Securing together machine elements for the transmission of rotary motion.-In toothed gearing of the kind wherein a driving wheel and a driven wheel in constant mesh have on their shafts other toothed wheels in mesh. as in a rotary pump, the driving-wheel a or the other aligned wheel has limited rotary movement on its shaft b and is driven from the motor &c. shaft by a ring of levers k capable of limited rocking movement. Thus the gear pair external to the pump, which takes most of the drive, is readily compensated for wear. In the arrangement shown, the shaft b, which carries fixedly the driving toothed wheel of the pump pair, carries also a flange c, upon which the levers k pivot. The levers k project on the one hand into recesses g in the driving-wheel a external to the pump, and on the other into recesses i in a head e secured to the motor shaft d. The engaging parts 1, 2 of the levers k are rounded to facilitate the rocking movement of the levers, which allows of the setting movement of the wheel a. In another arrangement, it is the other or pump driving-wheel which is mounted with the rocking levers.
