Abstract

238,961. Baker Perkins, Ltd., and Head, R. May 29, 1924. Mixers with circulating-devices and rotary stirrers.-In a mixing apparatus comprising a receptacle containing an axially disposed rotatable helical mixing member surrounded by a non-rotatable adjustable sleeve, adjustable deflecting means are provided adjacent an end of the sleeve for circulating the substance to be mixed without swirling motion. The container a, which is hemispherical and jacketed, is mounted on trunnions. The sleeve c is adjustably supported on a bracket e through which passes the shaft b<1> of the helix b ; the baffle d is adjustably mounted on the shaft b'. The bracket e is slidably mounted on a standard and can be elevated to raise the mixing members by screw and nut mechanism operated through a clutch j. The shaft b<1> is splined in a bevel f<1> driven through a clutch f<6>.
