Abstract

Headgear 2 includes reflective material 6. The headgear 2 may be a helmet and may include a peak 4. The reflective material 6 may be applied in strips and be attached using adhesive or a hook and loop fastener. The reflective material 6 may be red if the headgear 2 is white, and the reflective material 6 may be silver if the headgear 2 is orange, green, red or blue

Description

1 2388298
Headgear The present invention relates to headgear and particularly, although not exclusively, relates to 5 protective headgear.
Legislation has recently made it increasingly important that builders and workmen working on site are made as visible as possible to fellow workmates and third parties 10 to reduce the risk of injury. Hence, there is a need to improve the visibility of workmen and builders whilst at work. It is an aim of an embodiment of the present invention to 1- provide headgear which improves the visibility of builders and workmen.
According to a first aspect of the present invention, there is provided headgear comprising reflective material.
Preferably, the headgear comprises a head section and preferably, a peak section.
The reflective material may be applied to the head section 25 and/or the peak section of the headgear by suitable means, for example, by adhesive or Velcro. Preferably, the reflective material is located over a plurality of areas over the head and preferably peak sections. Preferably, the reflective material comprises at least one strip of 30 material applied to the headgear.
( 2 Preferably, the reflective material is red when the headgear is white. Preferably, the reflective material is silver when the headgear is orange, green, red or blue.
For a better understanding of the invention, and to show 5 how embodiments of the same may be carried into effect, reference will now be made, by way of example, to the accompanying diagrammatic drawings, in which: Figure 1 shows a schematic side view of headgear; and 1C Figure 2 shows a schematic front view of the headgear shown in Figure.
Referring to Figures 1 and 2, there is shown headgear, for 15 example, a hat 2 having a major head section 8 and the peak 4. The hat 2 is shown as a builders hat although it should be appreciated that the hat 2 could be any form of headgear. 2C As can be seen from the Figures, strips of reflective material 6 is applied to both the head section 8 and the peak section 4 of the hat 2.
Advantages of the hat 2 reside in the effective way in 25 which a wearer of the hat 2 is made visible, especially at night-time. The reflective material 6 may be applied to the hat 2 by suitable means, for example, adhesive or VelaroR_ 30 The reader's attention is directed to all papers and documents which are filed concurrently with or previous to this specification in connection with this application and
which are open to public inspection with this
specf cation, and the contents of all such papers and documents are incorporated herein by reference.
A] c: the features disclosed in this specification
-nc_uding any accompanying claims, abstract and dr-awngs>, and/cr all of the steps of any method or process so disclosed, may be combined in any combination, except combinations where at least some of such features and/o steps are mutually exclusive.
- Each feature disclosed in this specification (including
cry <accompanying claims, abstract and drawings), may be replaced by alternative features serving the same, eq:.valent or similar purpose, unless expressly stated I' ctnervlse. Thus, unless expressly stated otherwise, each -et.:re dlsc-losed 1S one example only of a generic series of equivalent or slmllar features.
The invention is not restricted to the detains of the 2 foregoing embodiment(s). The Invention extends to any nova one, or ar.y novel combination, of the features disc used in this specification (including any
ac ompanying claims, abstract and drawings), or to any novel one, or any novel combination, of the steps of any À> method or process so disclosed.
